David in Kirishima

I am David van Ooijen. When I was young I started out out as a classical guitar player, but by now I play many types of guitars and lutes in many different styles. I teach guitar at the CKC in Zoetermeer, privately in The Hague and on-line here on this website and on YouTube. My pupils call me Meester David, hence MeesterDavidGitaar. I help my pupils by uploading video lessons to YouTube. I also make videos of the arrangements I make for them. If you like these videos and want to play my arrangements, you can find the PDFs on this website. Some are for free, for others I ask a small fee. I also do requests, but for these I ask a higher fee, the exact amount depending on the song. You can contact me if you have a song you want arranged.

Ik ben David van Ooijen. Als jonge jongen ben ik begonnen als klassiek gitarist maar inmiddels speel ik veel verschillende soorten gitaren en luiten in veel verschillende stijlen. Ik geef gitaarles aan het CKC in Zoetermeer, thuis in Den Haag en on-line. Mijn leerlingen noemen mij Meester David, vandaar de naam MeesterDavidGitaar. Ik zet lesfilmpjes voor mijn leerlingen op YouTube, en ook video’s van de arrangementen die ik ze meegeef. Als je deze video’s leuk vindt en mijn arrangementen ook wilt spelen, kan je de PDFs op deze website vinden. Sommige zijn gratis, voor andere vraag ik een klein bedrag. Ik doe ook verzoeknummers, maar daar vraag ik een hoger bedrag voor, het exacte bedrag is afhankelijk van het liedje. Je kunt contact met me opnemen als een liedje hebt waar je een arrangement van wilt hebben.

      3. I believe he is referring to the guitar you are holding in the photo above. It appears to be of the parlor guitar variety with pegs – and nicely decorated on the sound board.

        I too am curious what brands/makes your instruments are especially the parlor. Also whether or not you play with fingernails or flesh as it appears you don’t have a thumb nail but are still able to get a bright sound.

      4. The guitar in the picture is a copy of a Fabricatore model from around 1811, made for me by Gary Southwell from Nottingham, UK. It has gut strings and I play without nails, hence the clear sound.
